We would like to give a brief overview here so that those who are interested in learning more can get an initial idea what are the BAC Team classes offering and gives directions where to look for more information.

Categories and classifications
BayAreaChess have 4 different categories of teams, and players and students are welcome to inquire about these based on their USCF rating and tournament experience.
BAC Elite Team: invitational only for players with 1900+ USCF rating
Meets: Saturdays 9AM-11AM

BAC A-team: for players in the 1500-1900 USCF rating range
Meets: Saturdays 11AM-1PM

Team Fees, Policies & FAQMonthly Team Fees
A-team, Intermediate, First team: $150/month
The fee is non-discountable. This means no Basic or Family membership can be applied to the fee.
Late Pick-up policy:
Team players are expected to be picked up within 5 minutes to the end of their class. Any player who is not picked up by 10 minutes after the class ends will be given a warning. Second incident may result in withdrawal from the team. Please, respect our coaches by respecting their time.
Team Fee includes
- 2 hours of training with the team and Head Coach on three weekends
(total of 6 hours of training time)
- email communication followups during the week with Head Coach regarding problems & solutions, personalized questions, and much more.
Missed a class? Make-up policy
To ensure retaining quality titled instructors, we cannot offer make up classes for missed classes. If you know your child will miss a class, please let know in advance. If your child can only make one or two classes this month, you can pay prorated Team Class fee of $65 per class
Q: What's the difference between the Weekend Clubs and the BAC Teams?
A: The clubs are more casual, fun athmosphere and attendance can be on an ad-hoc basis by purchasing a drop-in fee. Teams need commitments and consistent attendance, and will be focused on improvement in all areas of chess.
Q: Can we try out the class? Do you offer a first try-out class?
A: You can bring your child upon confirming space with us, there will be no charge if your child chooses not to continue after the class. If you continue, you will be charged the regular monthly fee.
Q: What is expected from the Team members?
A: Consistent attendance and team commitment. Also recommended to spend anywhere between 2-30hr/week on chess at home.
Q: What software or other tools are required for the team members?
A: For the Elite and A-team members, Chess base (http://shop.chessbase.com/en/categories/chessbase) is required software. For the Intermediate and Beginner team members, there is no required tool at this point.
Q: Is there a maximum number of team members for each team?
A: Yes. Elite team is by invitation only. All other teams are open but are limited to 12 for each of the A-team , Intermediate Team, and Beginner team.
