Bay Area Chess, CAMPS 2025!

In-Person Seasonal Camps, 2025

New Players: Absolute Beginners are welcome at all In-Person Camps (below), or any Online Course that posts for Level 1.
 Levels: What are the 5 BAC Skill-Levels ?  
Weekends:  We have Drop-in (single session) Club Classes every week! (Palo Alto, San Jose, Fremont, Cupertino, Santa Clara.)
Regular Chess Camp:
     Half-Day block options available (register for both half-days to have a full-day camp, at a discount!) 
     We welcome any child of 5 years or older in regular camps (lower teens welcome, ages grouped accordingly)
     Prior chess knowledge is NOT required to attend a BAC camp.
     In-Person camps are for players Level 1 - 4, (under 1100 USCF or u1500 chesskid). 
     Bay Area Chess is CDC compliant.
Master Chess Camp:
     Master Camps are generally taught by Titled Coaches.
     Master Camps are for more experienced players with 800+ USCF Rating (if you are not sure, Regular Camps are probably more appropriate).
     A Free Rated Game is played every Friday of Master Camps. USCF provided if needed.
     We provide Workbooks as well!  
Strategy-Games Camp:
     A unique Camp experience targeting a variety of games/concepts beyond Chess. Explore the Curriculum by clicking on any Board-Game Camp in the Registration menu!


 
Sample Camp Schedule
SAMPLE Morning Schedule: 9am - 1pm 
       *8:30 - 9am :  Early-Drop options available at Registration.
       9:00 - 9:30 :  Arrival + Casual Free-play Games, Warm-ups.
       9:30 - 10:25 :  Group Instruction/Demonstrations (based on observed skill levels).
       10:25 - 10:35 :  Recess / Snacks (see snack options / disclaimer below).
       10:35 - 11:40 :  Games, Organized Pairings, Puzzles, Analysis at Coach discretion. 
       11:40 - 12:10 :  Group Instruction/Demonstrations.
       12:10 - 12:40 :  Lunch Break / Outside time. Please pack a child's lunch.
        (Lunch is OUTSIDE with distancing. Snacks will be provided to children without one).
       12:40 - 1:00 :  Free-Play Puzzles and Gaming until Pick-up / merge into PM arrivals.

       1:25 - 2:15 :  Group Instruction/Demonstrations (based on observed skill levels).

       3:20 - 3:50 :  Group Instruction/Demonstrations.
       3:50 - 4:10 :  Outside time, snack option.
       4:10 - 5:00 :  Generally casual Puzzles, Special Lessons or Gaming until Pick-up.
        *5:00 - 5:30 :  Late-Pickup options available at Registration.
